Poetry is a way to reach inside the soul and shine a light. The fluid use of metaphor allows for emotions, needs, and epiphanies to flow in surprising and genuine ways.
I also use poetry as a way into mindfulnessmindfulness. Mindfulness is a way of entering into the present, connecting to our senses, breath, and surroundings in an open, un-judging way. It is a way to observe instead of be caught by our thoughts. Some of the poetry and thoughts on this page are my attempts to find mindfulness in the diverse pulls and weights of this world.
